Target Audience for 'Inherited Empire'

Target Audience

Target Audience Primary Target: 18-35 years old (men)

Secondary Target: 35-50 years old (men)

The target audience for our film, Inherited Empire, will be mainstreamers who tend to be domesticated and conformist type of people. However, we recognize that our age rating is an 18 certificate, which indicates to us that we are focusing on a niche audience. This is because it is a specific audience and we need to provide content that the audience will like. The audience that we are aiming at would like action films, beer, sports and socializing. Their dislikes would be things that females would usually like such as shopping and romantic films. Also the races that our film will appeal to are black, white and mixed race as these feature in our film. The targeted viewer would not have strong beliefs in church or religion as our film may cross boundaries that may offend them. Therefore, the target audience would only go to church for a wedding or funeral. The target audience’s main occupation would be a practical job such a builder, electrician or would be people interested in media such as graphic designers and media technicians as they will be more obliged to go to the cinema, through their shared interest in the arts.

Feedback Sheets

 Feedback From Our Presentation

The feedback that we have received from the class about our pitch was  pretty varied. Three groups all agreed that the Director and the cast fitted the genre very well and that they was ideal for the roles we want them to portray in our movie. We also received positive feedback about the narrative and that they also felt that worked well. Other positives that we received was that we put a lot of research into our film for example finding out characters previous work and wether they would be good for the role that we want. It was good that the class noticed that because it shows that our research payed off. We also received some feedback which the class think we could improve on for example many people think we should have made the ending of our film more obvious and also include more information about the ending which i agree with so if we was to do this pitch again we would take the feedback on board and make sure that we include all information about the ending of our film. On a few of the feedback sheets the class thought that our budget was to much but due to the money i think our casts members will bring in such as Tom Hardy i think that the budget is perfect for out movie.

Forrest Gump Title Sequence Analysis

Forrest Gump – Title Sequence Analysis

The genre of this film is drama we can recognize this due to the noticeable absence of distinguishable features for example if you are watching a horror film we are expecting to see blood and knives whereas in a drama the expectations are less clear as the narrative tends to focus on character as opposed to iconography this becomes clear when we recognize that forrest is the star power of tom hanks.
As the sequence begins we see a feather floating in the sky and slowly floating around a small suburban town in America. Due to the cars, style of people’s clothes and the retro trainers which Forrest is wearing in the sequence we can tell that the movie is set in the 80’s. Some of the buildings that we see in this sequence can also signify the time period which this movie is set in.
The floating feather is very significant in this sequence it represents forests life throughout the movie. The feather went wherever the wind took it and by chance it landed at forests feet. This suggests that metaphorically Forrest is the feather and he never tried to control his destiny just like the feather and he went wherever life took him.
Throughout the sequence one camera shot is used which is a crane, which then goes into a steadicam. This shot establishes the setting and sets the scene for the movie. The scene, which is established, is a small town in America.
Small towns are often used for drama movies because it is the ideal setting to represent this genre. The Drama genre also tends to exhibit real life situations along with having characters that participate in everyday jobs, and living an everyday life which makes it seem very realistic to the audience. Having these specific features signify to us that the genre will be drama. The title sequence also creates an enigma for us as the audience because we want to know why the feather has landed at Forrest’s feet and nobody else’s. Automatically by the feather landing there by chance it makes us as the audience think why?
The music that is used in the title sequence which is produced by Allan silvestri is very orchestral using a lot of stringed instruments and also a piano. The music used also fits the setting very well because as we are watching the feather slowly fall by having the stringed instruments and the piano in the background creates a very peaceful angelic atmosphere. The music gradually gets louder as we are finally going to find out the destination of the feather and as it gets closer to Forrest this creates good suspense because we are finally getting to find out where this mysterious feather is about to land.

Article Analysis

Media H.W

Hollywood animation studios, including Warner Brothers and MGM, did give some license to their artists to indulge in title antics. But one can also see that life for the titling crew at Disney was strained by the weight of its foreign-language versions and that film exports rarely encouraged innovation in titling.
I liked this quote because it shows how Disney was very widespread and that they had to create different title sequences for different countries.

Animation effects like the ones you see in rotoscopes actually pre-date film. But the power of filmmaking was enormous, and it tempted thousands, including many artists, to try their hand at this new medium.
This explains that many artists tried to create new pictures to introduce something new to title sequences when in fact some people see animation effects as pre dating the film and may prefer it the way it was.

Meanwhile, the studio systems operating in Europe and Hollywood also delighted in creating titles that featured vernacular graphic novelties.
This explains that the title sequences are now trying to be a bit different by using more dialect graphic novelties and are trying to be more original.

Words and lettering played an enormous role in films of the silent era.
This explains that the words and the way they are arranged created great effect without using images, which were introduced later.

As movies grew more popular, their titles evolved.

This explains that as they movies scene grew more popular over the years designers decided to come up with new ideas which made their sequences eveolve.
